It was early in the morning, well, too early for Bradley but he heard the unmistakable sounds of Colin in the shower. Bradley smiled, he couldn’t resist starting his day with a little fun with his boyfriend. ‘Cols?’ Bradley stepped gingerly into the bathroom and waited for a response, ‘Morning Bradley,’ he could practically /hear/ Colin’s smirk, ‘come to join me have you?’ Bradley stepped into the tub quickly and hugged Colin from behind, kissing his neck. 

‘Hey you,’ he murmured and pulled back slightly so Colin could shift round in his arms. Bradley let out an unexpected belt of laughter as Colin’s hair was stuck to his forehead and falling way past his eyes, ‘Awww Colin you look ridiculous!’ Colin looked confused and hurt for a second before Bradley pushed the hair up and off his face and grinned, Colin now grinning back, ‘Sorry, I know you don’t like it so long.’ ‘No it’s ok, I’ll improve it.’

Bradley grabbed a bottle of shampoo and began attacking Colin’s hair with it. Colin ducked slightly and closed his eyes, allowing Bradley better access but started laughing at the image of themselves. ‘Ok,’ Bradley finally said, finishing his work with an artful twist of Colin’s fringe and laughing through his words, ‘Now you look perfect.’ ‘I thought I always looked perfect?’ Colin retorted, raising his eyebrows. ‘True,’ Bradley said, resting his hands on Colin’s shoulders and kissing him thoroughly.

(movie!verse. spoilers.)

They remember in their last moments, as Grantaire is shoved into the upstairs room and looks up at Enjolras.

The open window casts light into the room, and Enjolras glows.

Grantaire feels his knees start to tremble with the influx of memories - but it isn’t overwhelming. They’re just there, like the desire for this revolution and the passion for his fellow friends. It burns low in his stomach like the feeling of alcohol in his throat, and he exhales shakily. 

Fear courses through his veins, adrenaline running high, but their resolve is steadfast. The red flag in Enjolras’ hand makes Grantaire’s heart beat quicker, makes it pound in his chest. Guns are pointed at them, but the moments in which he walks towards him are the slowest Grantaire’s ever felt. 

The guns pointed at them are irrelevant in this moment, he understands, as he catches Enjolras’ eyes. He steps ever closer, caught between this image and what Enjolras used to be - and he finds it brilliant and frightening all the same that he’s in love with him no matter how he looks or becomes.

Grantaire brushes his hand forward, his fingertips ghosting against Enjolras’. Enjolras has not stopped looking his way, past curly hair and blood still wet on his face. Grantaire tilts his head once, and Enjolras gives the slightest of nods, an acknowledgement that he is not alone in this.

Until the earth is free? He asks, silent, because these are their last breaths. Arthur reaches out and curls the edges of their fingers together, giving him a brief smile before looking at the soldiers, unafraid.

Until the earth is free.   

Merlin lets himself drink in the sight of Arthur in a new way, and then he also looks their death in the face. Their fingers are laced together for one short, beautiful moment -

and then the gunfire shatters it.

Merthur, fluff, teeny tiny but smutty but nothing graphic. The upbeat tone of the song kinda spurred the idea of a frenzied attempt on Arthur’s behalf to get Merlin to understand how he feels about him.

Percival walks around her crumpled body, towards the water, towards Merlin. The servant stands in the shallows of the water, staring off into the distance. The ripples of water lap at Merlin's legs, whispering quietly to him as its many colours- gold, blue, red, white- shimmer in the setting suns light. Cautiously, the knight moves forward."

Before he can call out, Merlin turns to him. His eyes are as blue as Percival remembers, but they’re empty, cold, lifeless. He looks broken and lost. Merlin seems to have aged years since the knight had last seen him. “Merlin…?” Percival asks quietly. “Arthur’s gone.” As Merlin replies, he closes his eyes and turns away. Percival bows his head in silence. “Long live the Once and Future King,” Merlin murmurs. Percival doesn’t answer.  

Merlin continues, “The battle is won, but Camelot has lost.” Percival swallows against the lump in his throat. Camelot lost many in the battle. Percival’s seen the bodies, he’d once known the faces, the men. The guard who stood on night watch with him. The old knight who’d been the first of Camelot’s men to welcome Percival. The solider who’d once stopped Gwaine from attacking a barkeep. Gwaine. Gwaine is gone, too.  
Percival blinks against the growing sting of tears. He knows Merlin and Gwaine were close and Merlin deserves to know but after Arthur… “Gwaine’s dead,” his voice betrays him with a croak. Merlin simply nods and looks over his shoulder at Percival, tears in his eyes. “I know. I felt it.” Percival frowns but doesn’t ask. He’s not sure he wants to know.
“It was strange, at first. When it happened, the earth seemed to shake with small tremors, and the birds stopped singing, if only for a moment. Everything dimmed, my vision went black and white, and I just knew. It happened when Elyan died, too. And Lancelot… And Arthur.” Merlin sighs and Percival doesn’t think Merlin is talking to him any more.
“I think it’s magic, from the Round Table, perhaps, or maybe it’s just me. Kilgarrah might know…” He trails off slowly, his voice nothing more than a mumbling whisper, talking of magic and dragons and destiny. If he’d been a stranger, Percival would have thought him a madman.
“Will you come back to Camelot?” He asks instead, and Merlin seems to snap out of his rambling. He stops and after a moment, he shakes his head. “No.” He crouches and brushes his fingers over the waters golden surface, as though caressing a lover’s cheek. “I am needed elsewhere.”
“Where will you go?” Merlin cups his hand in the water and lifts it up, watching as the droplets run between his fingers and splash against the water, breaking the smooth surface, shattering it like glass. “I’ll go wherever I’m needed.” He says and Percival nods slowly. “What do I tell the Queen and Gaius? What do I tell Camelot’s people?” Merlin’s shoulders stiffen and his voice is tired, yet strong, “Tell them their King is dead.”
Merlin stares down at the water, whispers something so faint Percival can’t hear, but from the small smile on Merlin’s lips, he knows the words are fond and affectionate. Then he stands and slowly walks from the water. “Tell them the Once and Future King rests in the waters of Avalon and his Sorcerer watches over him. Protecting him, like he always does.”
